In a follow-up on an Asia Express article dated August 19 in which it was reported that the Taiwanese government will be investing NT$100 million to support R&D for the emerging technology flexible electronics, it is learned through recently made statements by the Taiwanese premier Frank Hsieh that the Taiwanese government will spend a total of NT$1.6 billion for R&D on six emerging technologies, including intelligent robots, smart living spaces, RFID, nanometer technology, intelligence vehicles and the already mentioned flexible electronics. Furthermore, premier Hsieh stated that he has instructed the government sector to take the initiative in employing the results of the supported R&D.
